Harrogate sits at approximately 130 metres above sea level on the eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales. That elevation matters for roofing in two ways. More relevantly, the rainfall pattern in Harrogate tends toward sustained wet periods in autumn and winter rather than concentrated summer thunderstorms. For areas like Pateley Bridge in the Nidderdale valley to the north-west, the figures are even higher — over 800mm annually, with the valley topography funnelling weather in from the west.
